Buyer Journey Transformation

168 to 292 AI Overview keywords

Allucent gained visibility across 124 additional keywords cited in Google AI Overviews.

16,902 to 21,581 organic sessions

Organic sessions increased by 4,679 over the five month engagement.
Prompt led content strategy built across clinical trial, therapeutic area, and CRO discovery queries.

Background

Allucent is a full-service contract research organisation providing clinical trial solutions and therapeutic expertise to biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.

Its buyers were increasingly researching CRO partners through AI Overviews and large language models before visiting a company website. Yet Allucent’s content remained structured around traditional keywords, limiting its visibility inside the answers shaping early vendor consideration.

The Challenge

Allucent had strong clinical expertise, but search visibility had begun to plateau.

Existing pages lacked concise summaries, structured FAQs, and direct answers that AI systems could retrieve and cite. Keyword targeting focused heavily on transactional terms rather than the conversational questions clinical leaders were asking AI.

As a result, Allucent had limited visibility across high-intent searches involving therapeutic expertise, clinical trial trends, and CRO selection.

The problem was not a lack of authority. The content was not expressing that authority in a format AI systems could easily understand.

The Strategy

FTA Global rebuilt the content strategy around how Allucent’s buyers research through AI.

Traditional terms such as clinical trial CRO and oncology CRO services were expanded into specific, decision-led prompts, including:

  • Which CROs have strong expertise in paediatric clinical trials?
  • Which CROs can support cardiometabolic programmes through Phase 2?
  • Which CROs are suitable for mid-sized pharmaceutical companies?

These prompts became the foundation for content planning, page optimisation, and topic prioritisation.

The Execution

Implementation followed a four-stage process over five months:

  1. Prompt research: FTA Global mapped conversational buyer questions across therapy areas, services, and CRO selection.
  2. On page optimization: TLDR summaries and prompt-led FAQs were added to blogs, solution pages, and therapeutic area pages.
  3. Content creation: New content was developed using clear headings, direct answers, expert data, and structures suitable for AI retrieval.
  4. Citation tracking: Visibility was monitored across AI Overviews and large language model answers to identify which topics and formats earned citations.

The flagship Clinical Trial Trends article was built around this framework and began appearing in AI Overviews for high-intent clinical trial searches.

The Outcome

Allucent moved from limited AI visibility to appearing inside the answers its buyers use to evaluate CRO partners.

  • AI Overview keywords increased from 168 to 292
  • Organic sessions increased from 16,902 to 21,581
  • Allucent appeared for Clinical Trial Trends queries
  • The brand surfaced in LLM answers covering paediatric trials, cardiometabolic programmes, and CROs for mid-sized pharmaceutical companies

The engagement created a repeatable content model that can now be extended across services and therapeutic areas.

What do we learn?

AI visibility starts by understanding how buyers ask questions.

Allucent already had the expertise. The shift came from structuring that expertise around real prompts, clear answers, and credible supporting detail.

The result was not simply more content.

Allucent became easier for AI systems to understand, retrieve, and recommend during high-value clinical trial research.
