Modern entrepreneurship is transforming from a focus on growing rapidly to one focused on building sustainable businesses, defined by clear systems, very good operational processes, and an emphasis on creating a business model with a long-term trajectory. Senthil Kumar Hariram, Founder and Managing Director of FTA Global, discussed this issue in a feature on Mediabrief, noting that founder roles are changing due to market conditions that are increasingly dominating entrepreneurial behaviour.
Due to emerging artificial intelligence (AI) and large-language-model (LLM) environments, the importance of building successful businesses in the long term is growing at an unprecedented pace, and therefore, decisions made today, particularly those made regarding operational efficiency and effective supply chain processes, must be based upon data; automation; and the way that people consume goods. In addition to embracing innovation through the utilisation of those innovations, this rapid evolution in the economy also requires founders to stay current and be flexible in how they decide to make a viable company operational.
“Entrepreneurs today focus, not just on how quickly they can grow their business, but also on how effectively they can create the systems necessary to support that growth long term," he stated, indicating that long-term thinking is more important than rapid growth of a company.
In addition, he stated that finding balance between innovation & execution is vital to success; while new ideas & disruption are important still, consistent delivery & optimising systems over time will drive long-term growth. This will allow businesses to be constructed not only with scalability in mind but will also provide the flexibility & resilience needed to adapt & survive.
This feature reflects a larger trend of entrepreneurship changing definitions from speed-based growth toward system-based sustainability as we navigate an expanding & technical world.
